Awards Program

The Karen L. Colussi Foundation Awards Program has been established to honour

the memory of Karen L. Colussi, the founder and first principal/administrator

of the Selkirk Montessori School.

The Ken Scorey Music Award is given in memory of long time teacher, Ken Scorey, who played such an important role in establishing and nurturing the wonderful band and music program at the school.

The Karen L. Colussi Foundation is accepting applications from Selkirk Montessori School students who are in grades seven and eight in this academic year. The Foundation will be pleased to consider applications from students whose accomplishments include proficiency in the areas of academics, athletics, visual arts, performing arts/musical theatre, and music.

Applications

• Applications, including supporting documentation, must be submitted on the website by Tuesday, May 30th, 2023.

• Only students in grades 7 and 8 at Selkirk Montessori School may apply in one category only.

Documents That May Be Included With Your Application

Supporting Documents for the Academic Award

• • An application letter written by the student.

  • Copies of recent report cards.

  • Copies of any certificates or awards earned by the student.

  • Any recent essays or tests.

Supporting Documents for Music and Performing Arts 

• • An application letter written by the student.

  • Letters of reference.

  • Copies of any awards or certificates earned by the student.

  • Copies of photographs, video, and/or digital music files.

Supporting Documents for the Athletics

• • An application letter written by the student.

  • Letters of reference.

  • Copies of any awards or certificates earned by the student.

  • Copies of photographs or video of athletic endeavors.

Supporting Documents for Visual Arts

• • An application letter written by the student.

  • Letters of reference.

  • Copies of any awards or certificates earned by the student.

  • Photographs or video of the visual art created by the student.

Only students in grades 7 and 8 at Selkirk Montessori School may apply. Awards will be made at the discretion of the board of the Karen L. Colussi Foundation. The decision of the Karen L. Colussi Foundation is final and binding.
